GETTING THERE & AROUND SALAMANCA

 

AT BARAJAS AIRPORT (MADRID)

Madrid has a comprehensive public transport system comprising buses, suburban trains and a metro.

BY UNDERGROUND (METRO)

Although there are airport bus services, the easiest way to get into town from the airport is by metro. The airport is located near the end of line 8 (PINK COLOUR). The metro ticket into town is only €1.10

BY TAXI

Depending on the traffic and the trajectory, you should be charged between 15 and 25 Euros for your ride from the airport.

TRAIN TO SALAMANCA

The state railway network, RENFE, covers the entire country and is the cheapest in Europe. It has two principal classes and numerous special prices and discounts which make economy travel a great deal easier for the budget traveller. You should look out for ‘Dias Azules’ or blue days on which you will receive a fifty per cent discount. There is also a ‘Tarjeta Turistica’ or tourist card which is only available to non-Spanish residents and this will entitle you to numerous discounts on either class for periods of three, five or ten days.

By underground (Metro): Distance: 9 stations and two transfers.

1. From Airport to Nuevos Ministerios by line 8.
2. Transfer at Nuevos Ministerios.
3. From Nuevos Ministerios to Príncipe Pío by line 10.

Average journey time from the entrance to the Airport station to the exit in Príncipe Pío: 28 minutes.

BUS TO SALAMANCA

The country also has an extensive bus network which is operated by a host of different independent companies. It serves some of the more remote towns and villages which the train service doesn’t reach so quite often it is the better option for those of you who want to head to into the great unknown. Most towns and cities have one main bus station where buses arrive and depart and information is usually easy to come by in the terminal.

4 . Transfer at Avda. de Amércia.
5. From Avda. de Amércia to Conde de Casal by line 6.

Average journey time from the entrance to the Airport station to the exit in Conde de Casal: 32 minutes.
